Bamboo Wristies

Sorry, it's been awhile. I have been designing, and have a number of patterns in the works as we speak. For the moment, though, it's time to catch up on the Ravelry-released patterns and on my goal of posting a new pattern every month or so!

So here they are, a lovely summer accessory, my Bamboo Wristies (link to Ravelry download page)



Worked in the round, this pattern is quick and fun, and makes an eye-catching finished product! The modified chevron stitch results in a nifty “wave effect” at both the top and bottom edges of the gloves!

It comes with directions for one size which should fit most women’s hands, but you may want to move up or down a needle size if you’re unsure.

They are pictured worked in 170-190 yards of Idena Bamboo, an aran weight yarn with a gauge of 10 stitches and 12 rows = 2 inches in stockinette. Needle size is US 7 / 4.5 mm (DPNs), and the size show is 8.5" long and 4" wide laid flat

Noro Curls Pillow

Materials:
-- Size 8 needles for a more dense knit that you can block and adjust more.
-- Two yarns, Noro Kureyon and contrasting color. You will need about twice as many yards of Kureyon as you will of your contrasting color, totaling 150-275 yards, depending on whether you expect to make the back the same way. I used Elsebeth Lavold Silky Cashmere, which runs 44 yards/skein.

The Kureyon stitches are represented by white squares; the contrasting color is represented by black squares.


Longtail cast on 46 stitches.
In stockinette, working left to right when purling, and right to left when knitting, follow the color changes chart above, working from the bottom up.

Row 1: Purl the pattern three times, Purl 1 White, turn (Wrong Side)
Row 2: Knit 1 White, Knit pattern three times, turn (Right Side)

Always change colors on the wrong side of the fabric (where the purl bumps are).
Repeat rows 1 & 2 until piece measures 11" or to desired length. Cast off.

You can create a matching back, or do what I'm doing: knit up a back in plain stockinette until it's about the right size, block the two pieces to match, and crochet the seams together. I love crocheting seams together. It's pretty, easy, secure, and it doesn't matter how you do it so long as you do it consistently.
